Rider makes her first appearance in UBW

Rider Fate Hollow Ataraxia 2

The fifth episode of Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works have released 2 days ago. In this episode, Rider makes her first appearance in the middle part of the episode.

The episode started with a flashback of Shirou and Kiritsugu talking about being a hero and save the world and it’s the same scene from the last episode of Fate/Zero. Then the episode goes on with Shirou going to school without Saber and made Rin pissed of with him as it’s like he wanted to be killed. Rin decided to attack Shirou but I don’t think she have the intention to kill him that time. Shirou managed to dodge Rin’s attack and their fight stopped after they heard a girl scream.

There’s no need to think much of why is that girl collapsed. In the anime world, mostly weird things happen must be related to the main characters or the evil characters in the series. In this episode, the culprit most probably be a Servant – Rider. In short, Rider absorbed her mana to strengthen herself. When Rin tried to help the girl, she was attacked by Rider’s dagger and unfortunately, it hits Shirou’s right hand as his fast reaction made him to react to the thrown dagger and saved Rin from the dagger to hit right on her head.

Then, Shirou chases Rider (before he know it was a Servant) to the forest behind his school. There, Rider makes her first move and her first appearance in the series. Shirou managed to dodged rider’s attack. Rider asked him if he’s going to use his Command Seal but he doesn’t want to use it and fought her with his err.. metal pole? Or the desk leg maybe? Something like that. While fighting, Shirou said that Rider is not very impressive like other Servants and made Rider shows her invisible dagger that already stucked to Shirou’s hand all the time. Seems like Shirou is going to die by Rider but luckily, Rin came and saved him. After that, Rider fled.

After that, Rin treated Shirou’s wound at her place and decided to call a truce for them – Maybe she just doesn’t have any intention in killing him. Anyhow, Shirou just accepted and become an ally with Rin for the moment. Then, they’re just talking about why Shirou is weak in magic and why he doesn’t have the magic crest.

Overall, this episode was not quite interesting as they are still in the introductory part of the series. The fight scenes only lasted for around 2 to 3 minutes. But we cannot blame Ufotable as they only follow the true route in Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works visual novel and it will not be like the 1 hour 45 minutes movie of UBW by Studio DEEN. So, we can’t expect the storyline to be like the movie. But still, we still have faith in Ufotable’s UBW series to be better as they made Fate/Zero. However, let’s jut wait for the upcoming episode and hoping for a good episode to come.
